International TPS Conference 2026 05.06.2026 – 06.06.2026

Welcome

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the International Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) Conference 2026 in Düsseldorf.

This meeting is, to our knowledge, the first to bring together nearly all research groups worldwide that have contributed published work on transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS). This breadth is essential because the field is promising, but far from settled.

TPS research still faces substantial challenges: heterogeneous protocols, small sample sizes, and an incomplete understanding of underlying mechanisms – from vascular effects to network-level modulation. At the same time, despite ongoing controversy, there is now emerging evidence suggesting that TPS has legitimately entered the field of neuromodulation. Early clinical data indicate measurable effects, even if these findings are not yet sufficiently robust, replicated, or methodologically consolidated to support definitive conclusions.

For that reason, this conference is not meant to establish premature consensus. Instead, it aims to foster critical exchange, methodological clarity, and a more rigorous evaluation of what TPS can – and cannot – achieve.

At the same time, the convergence of preclinical and early clinical findings suggests real potential across domains such as dementia, neuropsychiatry, and movement disorders. Whether this potential translates into robust clinical applications will depend on the quality of the dialogue we establish here.

Thank you to all speakers and contributors for engaging in this effort.

I wish you a stimulating and productive conference.

Sincerely,
Lars Wojtecki
